Soulwinning   ---- 15 tracts ---- (still silent partner)

Today the ladies visited in an area sparsley populated.  It was near a school, though, which dismissed while we were there, so there were quite a few "walk-by" opportunities.  Mrs. Brenda broke her toe this week so was unable to walk.  She stayed in the van and "caught" two as they walked past her. Hna. Ana joined Jenny and I walking, and only a few feet from the van, she led one lady to the Lord.  Down a little side street we happened upon the door of a lady and her daughter enjoying meal-time, and the chairs, plates, and utensils that were brought to the table made me suspect we were being invited to partake; but for some reason not translated to me, we did not.  They were quite hospitable to us, as it turns out, becuase they were saved at Mount Hebron many years ago. Though the two ladies no longer attend regularly, they asked about many people from the church and had many kind things to say, especially about our Pastor and Mrs. Brenda.

Thirteen ladies went soulwinning this week.
The six ladies in our van won five people to Christ.

Quesadilla de Arrachera Although quesadillas are not new to me, the way the meat was cooked and seasoned made a huge difference.  This was my favorite quesadilla so far!  and, of course, there was Jamaica Tea.

Side note: Quesadillas are traditionally served with cheese, sometimes meat, with guacamole and salsa avaialable. This gringa actually ordered a side salad to get the the lettuce, tomato, and onion.

Please pray for me regarding learning Spanish.  I am still working on my Rosetta Stone and Scripture memory.  Pray I will not forget over Christmas break what I have worked so hard to learn.

Field Trip Pic:

We had a nice hike and lunch at Parque Estanzuela.

We are quite high up in the mountains here, but still not to the top.  If you look at my FB profile pic, you can just see the peak in the background, and that is not the highest mountain in the area.  Our actual hike was just about the same distance as hiking West Mountain in Hot Springs, but it was not as steep and we drove a few miles up the mountain before we started hiking.

Soulwinning   ---- 19 tracts ---- (still silent partner)

My partner this week was Hna. Ana, who led a man and two teenage boys to the Lord.  She witnessed to 8 other people who promised to keep and re-read the tract.  Six ladies were together, so they were a little hesitant to make a decision or pray aloud.  The teenagers were also together, but they were cousins. The ten ladies in my van won seven people to the Lord.

The Reason for the Conference is
People, souls.  I could not help but realize that the people in the pews around me were deciding to truly sacrifice in order to send missionaries to reach people for Christ. They were deciding to sacrifice much more than I ever have; much more than anyone that I know has ever sacrificed.  I have sat in the pews of dozens of missions conferences.  I have filled out dozens of pledge cards.  I have even felt like I was making sacrifices in order to support my church's missions program.  But, I was not coming close to the sacrifices represented by many of the people in these pews.

The 13 people pictured here with our Pastor surrendered their lives to go to the foreign field.  Second from the end is Francisco, a student in our school.  He is preparing to go to Africa. Behind him is Jesus, an English student, and his wife, who will be going to Argentenia.

New Food of the Week:

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a small ham, a large turkey, and a little ham dressed as a turkey!

I was a little slow with the camera on the pumpkin cobbler; but not with the fork. I had never heard of making a cobbler with pumpkin before, but it's a keeper. Have I mentioned that Jenny is a really good cook!

Language Update:

My neighbor Jessica told me that one of the assignments she gave when she taught Spanish was Bible memory work.  She would choose familiar passages so the mind would realize it was absorbing something it already knew.  I am working on John 3:16.
