GRADUATION 2018

WAY TO GO, ANDREW!

Ruth & Sara, Welcome to 1st Grade!

Andrew will be enrolling at Hyles-Anderson in the fall along with his brother, Angel, and our other graduates Joel and Brenda.  Andrew plans to major in missions and would like to join his dad here in Monterrey working in our missions program.

Sara's father graduated from the Bible Institute this year.  Their family will be moving to Michoacán, MX, where he will serve as an assistant pastor.  Their ministry does not have a Christian school so Sara will be homeschooled for first grade.

Ruth will continue her education here in first grade with us.

Soulwinning

We continue to have 100+ soulwinners out on Thursday nights with over 200 saved each week.  We are seeing an increase in our visitors on Sundays as well as in our number of returning visitors.

One of the Bus Captains found the housing for migrant workers to and from South and Central America.  He feeds a meal to those who attend services with him.  These workers are from Haiti, El Salvador, and even a few from Cuba, as well as southern Mexico and other places.  We have seen scores of these young men accept Christ in our services.

Update on My New House

A big thank you to those who have contributed to the necessity of re-making a house for me.  The men have cleared out the land for the addition to the existing house.  We were able to make a trip to Texas to purchase a door, three windows, and a bathtub.
(Also, bathroom accessories were on sale at Ross!)
Most of the funds for these items were provided by one very good friend of mine and my great friends from my sending church, Heritage Baptist in Hot Springs.

For those interested in being a blessing: I still need tile, sinks, an air conditioner, a toilet, plumbing, appliances, a bed, tables, and several other things in order to be able to move in to my own house.  Any and all help for these things will be greatly appreciated.  The amounts below do not include the trip to the border to obtain the items or delivery fee if applicable for purchases here.

The estimated total needed is about $7, 136.
The total given so far is $1,102.

💙Appreciation 💙

Just a note to thank so many of you who continue to pray for our school, our students, and myself.  I do not usually take the time to view the stats on my blog, but this past week, I did look.  I am both honored and humbled at the number of "views."  I realize that every person may not read every word, but I trust that even those who only look at the pictures pause for a moment of a very busy life and say a prayer for Mount Hebron Christian Academy. Your prayer is much needed and much appreciated.

Christian School News
Monte Hebron Christian Academy
All of the students are working hard to finish goals by the end of the school year.  We have two Kindergarteners graduating to 1st Grade and one Senior, Andrew, who plans to attend Hyles Anderson in the fall.
Notice our new church sign -- we are somewhat proud of it!

Soulwinning
Ganar Almas

We are changing up our soulwinning program a little bit this year.  We will have one church-wide soulwinning meeting and all go out together.  We have been doing this on Thursdays and so far this has generated the excitement that is often seen with the addition of new soulwinners!  We have had over 80 soulwinners going to different parts of the city each week!

Bible Clubs

During Spring Break which is nationwide and always adjacent to Easter, Mt Hebron conducts neighborhood Bible Clubs all throughout Monterrey.  This year we gave out certificates and invited parents to come see their children receive them.  We had scores of visitors the Sunday after Easter, April 8.  Here are the students receiving certificates, only a few of which are our regular church kids.

Mrs. Brenda's Home - Going Service

(Out of respect for the family, no pictures posted)

On Easter Sunday morning at around 9:00 am, Mrs. Brenda Ashcraft was welcomed into Heaven.  As sad as we are to say goodbye, we know there will be a wonderful reunion one day!
There were hundreds of people in attendance from Mexico and the United States, as well as some of our Institute graduates from other countries, and of course, Mrs. Brenda's daughter and family from El Salvador.  The service was a fitting tribute to a faithful servant of the Lord.  The church members prepared food for the entire family for several days.  Their outpouring of love was more than amazing.

It was sweet to witness the different reactions of the children:

Jonathan: "Mama, can I send a message to Granny from your phone to tell her I miss her?"
Mama: "Granny can't get your message in Heaven."
Jonathan: "Doesn't God have WiFi up there?"

Tommy: "I let all of Granny's friends kiss me and I didn't make any faces!"

Lucas, Knocking on the casket calling for Granny: "Shh! Granny's sleeping."

Housing Plans are "In the Works!"

Some men of the church have already started working on renovating one of the houses left on our side of the property after last year's legal battle.  One whole side of the house needs re-building, which means I can pretty much design the lay-out.  I will need nearly all new furnishings and household items, so this will be a work in progress for some time.
*PTL! My refrigerator purchased by Heritage Baptist Church was removed from the other house before it was inaccessible to us!

Christian Academy

Academia Cristiana Monte Hebron

Not a whole lot to report here other than -- Chicken Pox -- ugh!
Different students have been out different weeks -- for the entire week!  We will have some catching up to do after our Pastors' Conference.  We did what we could while we were able to, but that is one sickness that it is difficult to work through.
** So, no school pics this time :(

Bible Institute

Instituto de Biblia Monte Hebron

Classes are back in session, including 7:30 am ESL Classes 101 & 102.  I enjoy getting to know our Institute Students and helping them learn the basics of the English language.

Church
Iglesia Bautista Monte Hebron

51 people surrendered to full-time service

We have just finished our annual Pastors' Conference February 20-23.  This conference features nightly preaching with workshops during the day for Pastors and their wives as well as other church leaders and young people.  This year we are honored to have speakers who are very special to a few of us here at Mount Hebron.

Pastor Steve Hobbins of Lewis Avenue Baptist Church
This is Pastor Jonathan and Mrs. Jenny's sending church, as well as her home church. Bro. Steve was one of Jenny's youth pastors, and he and I served together in the Bus Ministry while I was at LABC.

Pastor Ezekiel Salazar of Montecito Baptist Church
This is Bro. Leo and Mrs. Jessica's home church.  Pastor and Mrs. Salazar discipled them as new Christians and are greatly responsible for the blessings of God they enjoy in their Christian lives.

Pastor Andy Gomez from First Baptist Hammond
This dynamic speaker and his wife are good personal friends of Pastor Jonathan and Mrs. Jenny.  I was able to go out soulwinning with Mrs. Jessica Gomez and Mrs. Jenny.  Mrs. Jenny led a teenage boy and Mrs. Jessica led a teenage girl.

Soulwinning
Ganar Almas

As it is still relatively cold here, Ladies' Soulwinning has been in the afternoons all of January.  One Friday we canceled because it was barely above freezing even at 2:30.  A few times I was privileged to be with Miss Betty who almost always sees someone saved while we are out.
